Summer Feet

John caught us girls and our summer feet on the porch swing...there is something I just love about being barefoot in summer with happy painted toes looking up at me. And something I love more than that is being on my porch on the swing!! I like sitting out there watching the world roll along, taking a break from it all. It is like someone pushes the pause button for a little while and I can breathe and daydream. I take a book, light some candles and incense, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and just lose myself. In fact, I lost myself so completely last week I fell asleep on the swing just swaying in the evening breeze listening to the windchimes and the birds...there may not be words enough for how much I love a good porch!! So wishing you some porch swinging, watching the world pass you by time...

Chocolate Cake...

John and Ella say no more
paparazzi!!

A little after dinner
meditation from my yoga girl!

So tonight we had shrimp scampi, roasted green beans (thank you Betty they were yummy), and Moosewood Cookbook's Vegan Chocolate Cake!!

The Chocolate cake is super easy and super yummy as witnessed by the lack of pausing seen above! So love dinner and dessert on the porch! Been a long time since I took a time to make a dessert! I have been inspired by reading Julie and Julia to get back into the kitchen...mind you I will not be pulling out any Julia Child recipes!! No brains, livers, etc...for me, I would never stomach it! But playing around with fresh herbs and veggies while they last would be a welcome change to the runaway train of eating out I have found myself on. Now what to do with all those grains that I can't always identify in the pantry...recipe suggestions anyone???

Accomplished...

Well this weekend I feel like I accomplished some things...mind you it helped that I had extra time off a mini holiday for me with no plans and plenty of time to potter around and just be, I haven't had that in quite a long time. But I managed to get my porch washed!! I made it like an aromatherapy day I used lavender castille soap so it was very spa like!! I found the table and chairs at a yard sale a week ago. I had been wanting a set of some sort for the front porch so we could have tea or snacks out there...more of an outdoors room but hadn't found anything I loved or really fit the age of our home...or that I could afford...but voila there we have it. I love how it all turned out! I got everything scoured and the cushions back out and the candles ready to be lit...and of course today was chilly, windy and rainy, but I spent a good hour or so snuggled out there in my thrifted blankies reading my Mary Engelbreit magazine and listening to the ladies as they snuggled alongside with books and journals. And did I mention the lovely melodies of the windchimes...yeah life is good!!
